You’ll have great exposure to the ins and outs of our business, and how we define and talk about Etsy’s mission and vision. This is a paid internship lasting 6 months. You must be able to work from our Brooklyn offices.

About the Team

Our in-house PR staff is small and agile, with audacious goals supported at the highest levels of the company. Our mission is to amplify the story of Etsy — the company, the marketplace and the movement. We don’t practice “cookie-cutter PR” and we don’t use conventional rules of engagement. Instead, our focus is on being highly informed and opinionated, thinking editorially and developing meaningful relationships inside and outside Etsy. Every member of our team is encouraged to act entrepreneurially.

Responsibilities:
Daily monitoring of news about Etsy, competitors and the industry

Daily monitoring of Etsy press inbox

Maintaining databases of coverage, press activity, and press targets

Researching consumer and tech trends, conferences, awards and media lists

Monitoring online activity within tools including Quora, Reddit and others

Helping draft written materials for use with press, conferences, etc.

Tracking product placements in consumer outlets

Communicating with sellers and press for inbound and outbound product requests

Assisting with production and distribution of seasonal lookbooks

Internal reporting on key metrics

About You

You’re a college graduate with a genuine interest in public relations.

You’re naturally enthusiastic and hard-working.

You have organizational and multi-tasking superpowers.

You’re fastidious about details and are skilled at proofreading.

You can prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

You have superior communication skills — “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” (Albert Einstein)

You’re highly computer and Internet literate.

You have a strong understanding of Google Apps and Keynote or PowerPoint.

You keep your cool and sense of humor under pressure.

You have a passion for Etsy, DIY, entrepreneurship, technology and people.

Bonus: You’ve worked in PR, communications or marketing before and have familiarity with tools like Cision, Google Analytics, Photoshop and social media tracking.
