COLA, a physician-directed, non-profit organization promoting quality and excellence in laboratory medicine is currently seeking a Social Media Coordinator at our Columbia, Maryland location. We are adding staff and have created a new position that reports to our Government Relations & External Affairs Manager.

COLA accredits almost 8,000 medical laboratories and provides the clinical laboratory with a program of education, consultation, and accreditation. The organization is an independent, non-profit accreditor whose education program and standards enable clinical laboratories and staff to meet U.S. CLIA and other regulatory requirements.

Position Description:
Manage and provide content for COLAs social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn).
Develop and maintain schedule for ensuring freshness of COLA social media and Internet content, including updating of news items.
Develop relationships with other healthcare organizations via social media in order to expand COLAs social media reach.
Research and identify other healthcare organizations with whom COLA should have a relationship, social media or otherwise.
Develop and implement strategies for boosting COLAs social media followers.
Research and write fresh content for use on COLAs social media and Internet sites.
Assist in writing white papers’ and other materials comprised of data, statistics, and/or factual research for presentation to public audiences.
Assist with miscellaneous writing projects.
Work with COLA staff to identify content to be repurposed either on Internet sites or via social media.
Serve as support to the Government Relations Manager in scheduling external meetings when needed.
Prepare daily press clips for consumption by COLA senior staff regarding lab medicine topics.
Assist in building relationships with legislators and staff.
Provide support to other COLA team members/departments as needed.
Assist Government Relations/External Affairs Manager with administrative duties when needed.

Four year college degree required.
Demonstrated fluency in social media communications.
Demonstrated writing abilities.
Good organizational skills
1 – 2 years of relevant professional experience (internships counted towards experience).
Knowledge of and familiarity with legislative process.
Past experience in healthcare a plus but not necessary.
