OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
Videogum.com is the sister blog to Stereogum, and is devoted solely to movies, TV, and Web videos (read: trampoline accidents). From last night’s Mad Men to the latest viral video or movie trailer, Videogum is a trusted (and hilarious) voice telling you what’s worth watching. The site’s highly engaged community has earned a reputation as pop culture’s smartest virtual watercooler. Called “one of the best blogs in the whole Internet” by Gawker, Videogum has received kudos from Details, New York Magazine, The New York Times, and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for its unique take on entertainment. Videogum was named one of TIME‘s Best Blogs Of 2011.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in blog outreach

Assist in finding content for Videogum (videos, entertainment news, GIFs)

Assist in contributor correspondence and submission review

Research pop culture events

Assist in social media outreach (Facebook, Videogumblr)

REQUIREMENTS
o Being a fan of Videogum already and knowing the style of the site (what content we would choose, what we would stay away from) is a big plus
o A minor in English or something like Film is also a plus, though not necessarily a requirement
o Experience in maintaining your own blog (or tumblr) would be great
o Knowledge of WordPress and HTML is another plus!
We are seeking intelligent, creative, driven, detail-orientated and not-easily-distracted individuals with a love for pop culture and videos of trampoline accidents. Someone who already knows their way around the blogosphere (ha-ha) and can help us – among other things — find the best content we can. While you probably won’t be doing any writing on the site, having your own voice and writing samples to prove it would be great. Being someone who can problem-solve on their own is a huge plus. Are we still doing pluses? We’re basically just looking for a hardworking Videogum fan who wants to lend an internship hand and gain some experience in pop culture blogging. It will be fun!
