Are you a news junkie who would love to learn how ideas go from ideation to print? Are you passionate about storytelling and want to be a part of the hospitality conversation? If so, our Communications team is looking for a creative and motivated self-starter to support the efforts of brand-wide PR initiatives. Ideal candidates will be studying communications and/or journalism with an emphasis in public relations and exhibit a love for writing, a knack for detail and an enthusiasm for hospitality, food and travel.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with the maintenance and management of department resources including press hits, social media lists, media database, PR awards, etc
- Edit press releases with attention to AP style and brand standards
- Monitor media to report and track coverage.
- Assemble and coordinate media mailings
- Read, research and flag trends/coverage in industry publications for the team
- Participate and take notes in team meetings where appropriate/as needed
- May assist with event planning and coordination
- Support Public Relations Specialist with a variety of ad hoc public relations projects as necessary
Required Skills & Experience:
- A current college student studying Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field
- Available to work up to 18 hours/week in our Home Office in the Financial District through December 2013 (extension may be considered)
- Strong creative and editorial writing chops
- Detail oriented and super organized
- Wildly enthusiastic about the world of public relations
- Willingness and flexibility to hit the ground running
- Resourceful and an internet researching guru
- Strong communications skills with a team player attitude
- Well-versed in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Prior PR internship or relevant leadership role at college/university a plus
