Job Summary:
The Communications Intern will work directly with the communications team to pitch creative ideas and storylines, manage media needs, assist with graphic needs and promote Richmond International Raceway throughout the year. The Communications Intern will also assist the ticket office with outbound events and customer requests. The Communications Internship is a seasonal position from January 13, 2014 through September 26, 2014, which includes two NASCAR race weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support to the communications department including but not limited to: writing press releases, program articles, media advisories, website stories.
- Oversee inclusion of race dates and information on local event calendars.
- Assist in maintaining all aspects of Richmond International Raceway’s website, which includes but is not limited to: placing press releases and related stories on main website, reviewing site daily to update event dates, names and hospitality appearances.
- Assist with graphic design content for website and other collateral materials.
- Assist with the creation of unique landing pages for partner offers, group sales and military programs.
- Assist with post-race event recaps for partners, which includes but is not limited to: compiling press releases, gathering media clippings, compiling promotional information and gathering photos.
- Assist with social media platform.
- Assist with PA book content and organization.
- Assisting with race weekend media center logistics, including but not limited to: overseeing volunteer schedule, photo vest distribution, backdrop changes, press conference needs, running microphones and website updates.
- Assist the Ticket Office with incoming calls, in-office ticket sales and ticket shipments.
- Participate in outbound events, which include weekend events, to promote Richmond International Raceway.
Requirements:
- Flexible hours based on the workload, with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Available to work some evenings and weekend events when necessary.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat preferred.
- Strong background in technical aspects of web and social media.
- Ability to think creatively.
- Willingness and ability to work in a stressful environment.
