SCOPE

The Americans for the Arts Internship Program offers the opportunity to investigate and participate in the operations of the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. Through a combination of learning experiences, work projects, and group collaborations, interns become integral members of our team. Program benefits include career support, member services, and a series of leadership discussions with Americans for the Arts staff. Interns are expected to participate in daily activities, contribute skills and ideas, and produce excellent work, all the while preparing to become the next generation of arts, nonprofit, and cultural leaders.

The Arts Marketing Intern will provide staff support on a variety of projects and tasks, including social media support and keeping up with the latest technology trends used in marketing such as Instagram, Twitter, and Vine. Most importantly, he/she will work on long-term independent design projects using either Photoshop, Indesign or Adobe Illustrator platforms. This position is ideal for an outgoing and creative person who has knowledge of graphic design and is seeking a fun working environment. As a member of our close-knit team, the Arts Marketing Intern must have a collaborative spirit as well as the skills to work independently managing his/her time. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, display an interest in the arts, marketing, and event planning, as well as a fondness for working with social media platforms. This position offers a stipend.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities may include:
* Working with Photoshop, Illustrator or Indesign to create marketing e-books and resources to post to our website, artsmarketing.org.
* Researching relevant news articles on topics surrounding branding, fundraising, audience engagement, social media marketing & the arts.
* Providing staff support in the creation of bi-monthly e-newsletters that reach 34,800+ subscribers.
* Regularly updating the Facebook page with engaging stories, podcasts, blogs, videos, etc.
* Providing communications support (both written and verbal) regarding the National Arts Marketing Project Conference.
* Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

* Fluency in Windows, Microsoft Office..
* Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign is necessary.
* Strong project management skills and an interest in planning meetings & events is preferred
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* The ability to collaborate with staff and industry workers in a professional, knowledgeable and courteous manner is necessary.
