ABC News Media Relations team is responsible for the overall communications and media relations strategy for ABC News including its television broadcasts “World News with Diane Sawyer,” “Good Morning America, “Nightline,” “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” “20/20,” and other platforms including ABCNews.com, ABC News Radio, and the network’s affiliate news service ABC NewsOne. An intern would work alongside the SVP of Communications, the VP of Communications and a team of publicity directors who are responsible for the day-to-day publicity efforts and the long-term communications strategy for ABC’s broadcasts, anchors, & correspondents. Day-to-day responsibilities include: generating television, print, wire, radio and Internet coverage of exclusive reports, interviews and special series.
The intern would provide needed assistance in a variety of publicity and media relations efforts. They would work closely with media relations coordinator and publicity directors.
Responsibilities
•Make calls to ABC affiliates to promote ABC News programming
•Assemble daily press clips for distribution to the news division
•Create and update media lists
•Distribute press materials
•Draft press releases
•Assist Publicity Directors with “GMA” Summer Concert Series
•All students must be eligible to work in the US
•All students must be at least 18 years old
•All students must currently be enrolled in a US college or university or be a recent graduate within the last six (6) months -or- be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program, or Disney Professional Internship program
•All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
•Strong writing skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office
•Strong attention to detail
•Must be responsible, dependable, and organized with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
•Previous experience in Public Relations/Media Relations in Entertainment Industry
