The Merchandising/Licensing Intern is responsible for assisting the director on most aspects of staff outfitting, internal product ordering, industry/trend research, pitch decks to potential licensing partners. We are seeking a passionate, hard-working dedicated intern with the self-motivation and desire to learn the merchandising and licensing elements involved in operating a professional sports team.
Essential Functions :

  • Assist the director with various projects and office tasks in an effort to prepare for and carry out tasks throughout the spring 2014 season
  • Prepare and analyze sales reports after each game and monthly recaps including online sales
  • Proficiency working with various vendors and internal departments to ensure the efficiency of the operations of the club
  • Provide support at various community and marketing events
  • Handle details related to retail license agreements

  • Current enrollment in college or university is required

Title: Digital Media Intern
Reports To : General Editor
Position Purpose:
The media/editorial intern is responsible for working directly with the general editor on various projects and game day. We are seeking a passionate, hard-working dedicated intern with the self-motivation and desire to learn all facets involved in covering a professional sports team.
Essential Functions:

  • Assist the media department with various office tasks
  • Support the media department with day-to-day initiatives
  • Responsible for supporting the general editor with website issues
  • Research for ways to improve efficiency of website and social media

Position Title : Video Production Intern
Reports To : Director of Communications and Marketing
Position Purpose :
This internship is ideal for an individual seeking a career in sports video production. Interns will assist in creating video content for a professional soccer team and gain valuable experience in all areas of production including filming and editing. Applicants must be familiar in shooting video using professional equipment and editing using Final Cut Pro.
Essential Functions:
Participating in all aspects of video production
Assist Cosmos TV Host and Videographer shooting/editing video content
Assist videographers with archiving/logging footage
Edit together packages and highlight clips
Assist Cosmos TV Host and Videographer on game day (fan engagement, equipment set-up, filming b-roll etc.)
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, Ability:
Current enrollment in college or university required
Must be able to show proof from your college or university that you will receive graduate or undergraduate credit for this internship
Preferred degree in Film Production or related field
Ability to multi-task and work in faced paced environments
Must be able to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to attend all home games of the Spring season
Must be familiar operating professional cameras (3CCD HD, DSLR, ENG)=
Must be familiar with basic file types (.mov, .png, .mp4 etc.)
Proficient editing skills on Final Cut Pro
Motion Graphics and Photoshop a plus

Title: Operations Intern (Spring) February-May
Reports To : Director of Operations/Events & Operations Manager
Position Purpose:
The Operations Intern is responsible for assisting the operations department on all aspects related to game day operations. This includes but not limited to: game week preparation, in game ceremonies, various other duties throughout game day, post-game cleanup and various other tasks as they come up during the game week. We are seeking a passionate, hard-working dedicated intern with the self-motivation and desire to learn all facets involved in operating a professional sports team.
Essential Functions:

  • Assist the operations department with various projects and office tasks in an effort to prepare for the Spring 2014 season
  • Support the operations department with game day initiatives (candidate must be able to attend all game days, approximately 5 in total mostly on weekends)
  • Proficiency working with various vendors, internal departments and communities to ensure the efficiency of the operations of the club
  • Assist with various tasks that may come up with preparation for the Cosmos’ grassroots tournament, Cosmos Copa
  • Responsible for providing support at various community and marketing events

Title: Box Office Intern
Reports To : Box Office Manager
Responsibilities :
As a successful Box Office Assistant/Intern, your main responsibility is to learn the box office-related areas of our business under the training and supervision of the Box Office Manager. As our Box Office Intern, you will assist in the following tasks during the New York Cosmos spring season:
Learn selling, printing and shipping of season, group, and individual ticket orders
Learn the process of deposit reports
Learn how we process payment plans
Get an understanding of how the Cosmos find their core fan base
Learn how to generate sales leads
Learn New Era Ticketing software
Assist with database updates, uploads, and general clean up
Learn how to run a box office on game days
This position will provide you with a clear picture of the overall operations for a professional soccer team. Additionally, you will gain valuable experience in the sports industry, with full training provided and the opportunity to work closely with the entire NY Cosmos front office staff. While this is an unpaid internship, we will gladly work with you and your school to provide college credit for your internship experience!
Qualifications:
Must be a current college student. Student must be earning college credits for internship.
Excellent organizational skills
Willingness to listen and learn
Strong time management skills and strong multi-tasking abilities
We Prefer:
Variable work hours and ability to work nights & weekends when necessary
Knowledge of New Era system
Computer skills in Excel and Word
