Ruder Finn’s summer internship program is an exciting opportunity for college students to gain experience and insight into the dynamic industry of public relations. Interns will gain on-the-job experience in a practice group and will receive specialized training opportunities. The Ruder Finn internship program runs for 10 weeks from June 9, 2014 – August 16, 2013 in the New York City office. All internships are full time and interns are expected to be in the office from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Interns are paid $8.00/hour and some interns may also be eligible to receive college credit, depending on your educational institution’s requirements.
Necessary Qualifications
To be considered for the summer internship program, candidates must have completed their junior (3rd) year of school, complete all online questions and submit both writing assignments detailed below. Please note only individuals who are authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship will be considered.

Healthcare
Ruder Finn’s Healthcare practice is the Agency’s largest worldwide practice, offering U.S. and global clients some of the industry’s most innovative and award-winning strategic communications programs. Healthcare supports numerous companies/organizations including pharmaceutical, managed care, professional societies and disease awareness organizations. This practice has helped clients define and achieve business goals with product and corporate-based services. Interns interested in working with Healthcare should be very detail-oriented, possess excellent research skills and have an interest in the life sciences. They should also have a desire to communicate medical advances in research to a wide variety of audiences.
Corporate Communications
The Corporate Communications practice builds and strengthens reputations, boosting customer loyalty, shareholder value and employee morale in the process. Recognizing the media’s significant role in shaping public perception, the practice develops compelling stories on brands or companies that resonate well with the general public or with targeted audiences. Interns should be interested in working with Corporate Branding initiatives and possess strong analytical skills and strong writing ability. Interns should also have an interest in how companies differentiate themselves in the global marketplace. There are specialty groups within the Corporate Communications practice which focus on technology and consumer brand clients.
RFI Studios
Ruder Finn’s RFI Studios is the Agency’s interactive/digital studio. The group works with an array of companies to develop powerful websites and social media strategies that enhance corporate image and attract customer, public and opinion leaders’ attention to advance business objectives. Interns must be interested in digital platforms and social media, and have good research skills. Web design and/or programming experience preferred. Ruder Finn Engagement
Ruder Finn Engagement is a recently-established practice group that delivers integrated communications campaigns with a heavy focus on digital and social media to internal and external audiences for global clients. Focusing on internal communications, employee engagement, talent acquisition and corporate branding, Ruder Finn Engagement offers strategic understanding of the relationship between digital platforms and public relations. Interns should be interested in internal operations at global organizations and also have experience in community building.
