COLLEGE JOURNALISM SCHOLARS
The Aspen Institute
Washington, D.C.
We are looking for two stellar students to attend and cover the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colorado, this summer. One  College Journalism Scholar will be invited attend the festival from June  23 to July 3; the other will attend from June 26 to July 3. Applicants should be currently or have just finished pursuing a college- or graduate-level degree program and have already contributed to a media outlet, which can include school-based publications and networks, as well as blogs.
The Ideas Festival, which the Institute produces in partnership with The Atlantic, is entering its tenth year. The sold-out event produces public, ideas-based discussion where leading thinkers, writers, activists, entrepreneurs, elected officials, artists, and others address the complex issues of today ‹ from the state of our union to the state of world affairs, from arts and culture to the economy ‹ in a uniquely civil and nonpartisan setting.
The College Journalism Scholars¹ primary tasks will include helping to produce content from various sessions to be featured on our website and blog, distributed to the press, and shared with a larger audience outside of Aspen.
The scholarship will cover airfare, lodging, and a badge for the length of the 2014 Aspen Ideas Festival and the preceding event, Spotlight: Health for one scholar and the length of the festival for the other.
We are asking that each candidate submit three writing samples (links are fine) and a resume to Karen Sommer Shalett, Editor-at-Large, Aspen Institute, at Karen.Shalett@aspeninstitute.org
