About the Agency
The Office of Communications seeks an intern with a strong work ethic to assist with the agency’s media relations and public affairs during the summer. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director for Communications and will serve as a key member of the communications team. Duties include responding to phone and email inquiries from the media and general public on a wide range of topics, attending and preparing for congressional hearings, and working on other communications projects as needed. Previous communications interns have served a front-line role representing CBO and have interacted regularly with staff across the agency as part of performing their day-to-day responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top Candidates should be working toward a master’s degree, preferably in journalism, mass communications, radio-television, or a related field with a strong focus or interest in government and/or political science.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to effectively handle multiple tasks and complete projects under tight deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required. Previous experience in journalism or media relations is desired and familiarity with, and interest in, social media would be a plus.
EDUCATION: Candidates should be working toward a master’s degree, preferably in journalism, mass communications, radio-television, or a related field with a strong focus or interest in government and/or political science.
