Points of Light is looking for an energetic person – part storyteller, part social media whiz – to fill an internship position in our Washington, D.C., office. This is a rich, hands-on experience that will give the selected candidate a deeper understanding of communications strategy and messaging. The intern will assist our Marketing/Communications team in various ways, including: writing blog posts and press releases; contributing to our social media pages; proofreading; assisting members of the media; and developing resources for internal and external communications.
Time Commitment: 20 hours a week; hours are flexible and may include some telecommuting
Compensation: $500 monthly stipend
Expected Start Date: May 12, 2014

Required skills: We’re looking for a strong writer who can create stories for one or more types of media. This person should be able to synthesize complex subjects in plain English, stripping away jargon. He or she must be creative and inquisitive, nimble and open-minded – ready to take on media and marketing campaigns. We prefer candidates with communications or journalism backgrounds, college students or recent graduates. Knowledge of Associated Press style is a plus.
Important: If you are interested in joining our team here at Points of Light, please send resume and cover letter to serviceassociates@pointsoflight.org , and place “Marketing/Communications Intern” in the subject line.
