The Weekly Racer is a website dedicated to bringing fans and readers closer to the racing action. We provide live coverage on various social media outlets to include Facebook and Twitter as well as looking to expand. Not only do we provide live coverage we post race recaps, driver interviews and other news from around the region. We are looking for a intern who is willing to cover the action at East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville, North Carolina. Some travel may be required to Lucama, North Carolina to cover races at a different race track.
Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for providing LIVE updates via our Twitter account in the form of text, images, and video. In addition, each weekend a recap of the event must be typed and posted on the website within a reasonable time frame. During the week the intern should work on interviewing drivers and track officials about past and upcoming events at the speedway.
The student would also be expected to help run the social media outlets and engage and interact with readers to help the site grow. The student will also help secure and organize sponsorships for the website.
The intern is expected to travel to the speedway to provide this coverage.
Skills: A complete understanding of Twitter and Facebook. Experience with Microsoft office mainly Word, Excel would be a plus. The student will need some form of portable technology to use while reporting at the track. A stand-alone camera would be a plus however with most smart phones having cameras they will be okay.
Dates: Would prefer someone who could work the complete race season, April –October. Our main concern would be the summer months of May through September
