The internship with the City of Greenville Community Development Department offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of public engagement tools, and manage projects that assess the quality of life for citizens.
Program Purpose
The internship’s purpose is to give graduate students with an expressed interest in local government, community development, or public outreach the chance to explore the field in a real world setting. This program allows interns to take what they have learned about public service, management, and research in the classroom, and apply those lessons to significant City projects in order to further prepare for a career in the public sector.
The City of Greenville Community Development Internship is a 400 hour, paid internship program to be completed between May and August.
Project Description
The intern will assist with development of the Neighborhood Quality of Life Dashboard and develop a curriculum to assist neighborhood associations with neighborhood planning. The intern will determine an appropriate analysis tool to encourage neighborhoods to assess their strengths and challenges, identify available assets and resources, and create an action plan for neighborhood improvement.
