The East Carolina Alumni Association communication team is looking for an undergraduate student intern for fall 2015 and/or spring 2016. This internship would be 8-10 hours per week (flexible), with an exact schedule to be determined with the selected student. This internship is unpaid but offers hands-on experience, opportunities to complete professional writing samples, and the chance to network with ECU alumni. The majority of the work will be writing for various platforms including social media, blog entries, e-mails, press releases and more. The selected student should be skilled at writing in both short and long form, and should be able to work independently.
Duties include:
– writing and scheduling social media posts in HootSuite
– interviewing alumni and writing entries for our blog, The Chantey
– writing alumni and volunteer spotlights for our newsletter, ECUpdate
– writing e-mails to alumni association members
– writing bios of scholarship and award recipients
– posting in our LinkedIn group
– publicizing networking events
– looking up alumni in our database
– assisting with press releases
– monitoring local and regional media outlets searching for ECU alumni in the news
– taking photos at events (interest/experience in photography a plus but not required)
– helping with ongoing website redesign (interest/experience in web/graphic design a plus but not required)
