Intern will assist Public Information Director in his duties as a liaison between the school system, the news media, parents, students and the community at large, by keeping informed on the matters of interest. The intern will gain valuable real-world knowledge of the functions of school/government affairs and a better understanding of media and public relations in a school system setting.
Responsibilities:
- Write, edit and distribute press releases to news media
- Write, design, and produce school system publications
- Assist with updates to the Pitt County Schools Website
- Research relevant school-related PR issues and best practices
- Explore additional tools/methods to help maximize communication including social networking
- Assist in planning and implementing special events and projects
- Assist Public Information Director as necessary in other tasks
