Pitt Greenville Crime Stoppers Public Relations Internship

Pitt Greenville (PGV) Crime Stoppers is a 501 3C organization. Its mission is public safety and it helps further that mission by raising funds to provide law enforcement officials in Pitt County the tools they need to solve crimes. PGV Crime Stoppers’ tips have led to the solving of thousands of crimes since it was chartered in 1983. PGV Crime Stoppers also works with school resource officers to spread public safety awareness in public schools.
JOB DUTIES:
1) Work with PGV Crime Stoppers board members and officers on improving, maintaining and updating its website and social media pages;
2) Attend monthly Crime Stoppers luncheons and offer input as needed; the Board includes over 30 members, including business, government and civic leaders throughout Pitt County;
3) Work with board members and local media outlets to develop and participate in functions and media appearances which would benefit the organization;
4) Work with board members to develop an overall strategic pr/marketing strategy;
5) Develop strategies to reach a young (under 30) demographic to spur their interest and participation in PGV Crime Stoppers;
6) Other administrative duties as assigned, with the understanding that some (but not an inordinate amount of) manual or clerical tasks would be involved.
CREDIT: Three hours course credit for approximately 140 contact hours, coupled with assignments designated by ECU faculty.
