Job Duties: Assist Public Information Office with variety of tasks related to communications. Work would include, but not be limited to developing news releases, newsletter articles, print ads and other promotional materials; assisting with public outreach programs (fairs, trade shows and expos); providing graphic design/photography support on various projects; and assisting with other duties as required.
Equipment Operated: Personal computer, digital camera, copier, fax machine and other equipment as required.
Working Conditions: Work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to other accurately; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of machines and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
QUALIFICATIONS OF CLASS:
Education: Current enrollment in Communications Arts, Journalism, Design/Art/Graphics/Art Education courses is preferred.
Experience: Previous marketing/public relations/public information and graphic design experience is preferred with some experience with public sector, local government, or non-profit organizations. Customer service experience is helpful.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good communication, teamwork and customer relationship skills required along with experience using Adobe Creative Suite software and basic word processing skills. Strong work ethic, enthusiastic attitude, creative mindset, and collaborative perspective are a plus. The preferred candidate will have strong writing skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
