Sysco offers a paid 10 week summer internship program in which participants are involved in much more than the day-to-day operations of the company. Interns will be exposed to real projects and challenges in a dynamic company environment designed to give interns real works experiences on what it is like to work in a Fortune 100 company. The Sysco summer 2017 internship program begins on, June 5, 2017, and will conclude on, August 11, 2017. The internship opportunities will be based in the Sysco Corporate office in the Houston Energy Corridor and at the Sysco Business Services location in Cypress.

Business Technology (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Sysco is looking for a sharp, business-minded candidate with data analysis and research skills to help turn data in to information to support business decisions. The data analyst responsibilities would include conducting full lifecycle activities requirements analysis and design, developing analysis and data visualization capabilities, and continuously monitoring progress to improve performance. The key business areas that the role would focus include supply chain and merchandising with opportunities to learn and use cutting edge tools and technology to build insights needed to help Sysco improve margins and hit operating income targets and accelerate case growth.
Analysis and software development (programming) on the Sysco Warehouse Management System (SWMS). Learn business, technical support and problem-solving skills necessary to integrate into the business.
Category Development (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Development of a standardized training manual spanning across Category, Sourcing, and Supply Chain analyst groups within Category Development. Creation of manuals through collection and documentation existing information. Includes evaluation of the effectiveness of the current business facing analytical tools, solutions, and technology in order to more adequately support Sysco’s strategic objectives.
Commercial Services (located at Sysco Business Services, Cypress, TX)
Lead projects in the areas of Client Services, Pricing & Agreements, and Costing. Interface internally within Shared Services, also with our Merchandising and Sales functions, as well as our Operating Companies in the field. Create playbook for onboarding multi-unit customers – document process, including clearly defined roles/responsibilities for all stakeholders. Develop process executing profit management initiatives, ensuring clear roles between field shared services organization.
Finance (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Work with the Category Management and the Revenue Management Teams on identifying common areas of overlap to drive improved gross margin & gross profit performance with special focus on improving profitability Work with the various transfer price team(s) (commodity and others) to gain an understanding of the current process and how they link up with the category management process. Focus on the commodity desks and evaluate merits of managing commodity desk pricing (transfer price and commission base) from corporate. Provide recommendation and quantify the opportunity (Margin and Gross Profit improvement).
Finance – Sales (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Create tools and process to automate Improving Gross Margins measurements – enabling efficient post review of actions taken to improve profitability of existing customers.
Human Resources & Labor Relations (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Develop a leader playbook detailing the process for requesting a change in headcount and/or preparing a new or transferred employee to start their new role. Research current labor and contract law in response to real-time labor issues. Provide objective memorandum and guidelines to ensure contract compliance and protect business operations from unfair labor practice charges and labor disputes.
Internal Audit (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Perform end of year SOX testing for fiscal year Audit Plan. SOX testing would include review of both Corporate and Field controls, documenting results and communicating to management. Updating Field and Corporate SOX matrix, risk control matrix and testing templates based on SOX testing results. Proposed updates will be used to discuss with our External Audit group in preparation for next fiscal year Audit Plan. Possible opportunity to participate as a guest auditor in the Houston area.
Investor Relations & Communications (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Working on the establishment of new communications and investor relations strategies having just recently joined these two teams. This will include, but is not limited to, developing content for upcoming investor day meeting, building a media database for journalist interaction, and assisting to combine Investor Relations and communicates processes such as news release distribution and website content development.
Legal (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Rotate through a variety of practice areas in the Legal Department, including Litigation & Regulatory Compliance, Employment, Employee Benefits, Securities & Corporate Governance, and Transactions. Projects would include legal research, preparing legal research memos, drafting legal correspondence, review of customer and supplier agreements, assist with the development of policies and procedures, and participating in meetings with business stakeholders across Sysco.
Marketing (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Develop a competitive intelligence package for Sysco, which is shared every quarter with the executive leadership, field leadership and field sales organization. Includes reviewing existing data sources available to Sysco, identify additional data sources, interview internal stakeholders and prepare templates that can be populated on an ongoing basis to provide competitive intelligence broadly within the organization.
Revenue Management (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Support with development and deployment Revenue Management tools & process. Includes problem solving, enhancements and requirements for tools & routines, running analytics to inform, creating deployment training materials, supporting reports & tools, supporting pilot activities, running simulations & testing on tools & routines.
Supply Chain Engineering (located at Sysco Corporate, Enclave Parkway, Houston, TX)
Focus on the design of the Sysco redistribution network which will include developing a working concept of a consolidation model. Including the aggregation of multiple transportation lanes and multiple distribution nodes to reduce transport miles, reduce inventory levels, and improve customer assortment and service levels.
Identify alternate processes, equipment, and work methods for the delivery of products to customers. Work directly with Sysco’s Engineering team as well as perform field observations and time/motion studies related to the delivery process at our distribution centers and customer sites
