Eastern Radiology- Summer 2018 For credit

Eastern Radiologists is offering a for credit internships for 1st and 2nd summer session 2018, as well as, fall 2018.

We are a very large practice of over 54 radiologists and provide out patient imaging and interpretations services throughout eastern NC.  Besides marketing our outpatient imaging centers, going on site visits to the 13 hospitals and the hundreds of offices we work with, we also host an annual breast cancer fundraising event. Over the past three years Ride for the Ribbon has raised over $54,000 to aid breast cancer patients, here in Pitt, Beaufort and Lenoir counties.

This internship will offer a large variety of learning experiences; enough in fact the chosen candidate could focus on that specific area.

Below are some possible learning opportunities. Please contact me, Addie Best at 252.931.7665, with questions and interest. I would be happy to speak with you.

Fundraisers: This year we will be planning and hosting the 11th annual Ride for the Ribbon. Planning the event, thinking through what is needed for each stop of the motorcycle ride and then getting those needs met through donations, including in-kind donations. We also have smaller fundraisers throughout the year.

Events: We hold small events in May and October at our Breast Imaging Center. Typically October has a many events that we attend for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Marketing also participates in health fairs and events, planning content for handouts and promotional items distributed at the health events.

Planning / Promoting New:

Eastern Radiologists continues to grow, in January we added Physicians East, to the list of providers that our radiologists handle the professional interpretation of their imaging. When new health centers, hospitals, physicians and procedures are added to the practice, marketing handles many behind the scene details in getting the pieces together for promoting those new additions. Thinking about who the audience is for each and learning how to best reach those audiences.

Maintaining Current:

We have many physician offices that refer their patients to our outpatient imaging centers. These practices need a regular contact for any customer service type issues. Having a key person who not only goes to their offices on visits, who can replenish their referral forms and maps for patients, who can set up access for one of their new physicians, who can address issues in a pleasant way and get to the root of the issue and correct any failures in house is and additional aspect of what we do. A happy helpful face that the referring offices see and can trust to make their lives easier, and want to continue to refer to.

Sponsorships: As a large medical practice, there is a steady stream of requests for sponsorships and donations. Receiving those letters, calls, emails and passing them along to the appropriate people or determining whether they even need to be passed along. Finding the most appropriate place within the giving budget for the approved sponsorships. Filling out the paperwork, processing with accounting, providing needed logos, ad ideas and artwork.

Advertising: While we have outside agencies for large projects such as our website launch last year, majority of print and online promotions are handled in house. We determine what area we want to promote, what the message should be, what visuals will be the focus and then putting all that together, getting approval and sent to the appropriate company by deadline.

Healthcare: Clearly radiology is an integral part of healthcare. Getting familiar with medical terminology, medical procedures, insurance realities and other various parts of the environment of a large medical practice, would be another learning opportunity with us.

Cohesion: Eastern Radiologists is actually multiple companies practicing as one large company. That can sometimes be disjointed. Ex: We have 4 out patient imaging locations in Greenville, one in Kinston and one in Washington. Each office has different hours, offering different services and procedures and different types of patients. Three of these were previously completely separate companies, which we acquired. Some large aspects have been merged together and it is apparent that they are all the same company, and in many other smaller ways, like forms, questionnaires, patient instructions, that still need to be worked on.
