The International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) is a forum for fact-checkers worldwide hosted by The Poynter Institute. Media executives, journalists and educators are turning to the IFCN to keep current with the ever-evolving fact-checking and misinformation landscape.

We are looking to hire an intern to assist our three-person staff at The Poynter. As an IFCN intern, you can expect to write stories about fact-checking and fake news for Poynter.org, maintain our database of anti-misinformation government actions and explain the latest misinformation research to readers around the world. You’ll also build sources at major newsrooms and nonprofits, maintain a dynamic social media presence for the IFCN and help us develop training for journalists worldwide.

The IFCN internship is a new summer program aimed at giving valuable, hands-on experience in a nonprofit newsroom. The intern will work with our reporter and two editors to help us inform and instruct journalists around the world. Successful interns will have had several internships, an impressive clip file and a variety of different work experiences. They will be fluent in English and proficient in at least one other language.

The internship runs 10 weeks from June to August at our headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida. The intern will get a stipend of $10,000 and structured mentorship from Poynter’s in-house journalism experts — including PolitiFact, which the institute owns.

Does all this — in addition to spending your summer minutes away from some of the country’s best beaches — sound appealing? Send cover letter and resume to internship@poynter.org. Apply by midnight on March 30!
