Student Research Internship in Children’s Health!

The Brody School of Medicine Pediatric Research Program is looking for student interns with an interest in developing research skills through projects aimed at improving children’s health. Interns will learn about clinical research and study design through assisting with literature reviews, data collection, and manuscript development. The internship program requires 5-10 hours per week and runs each semester.

All majors with an interest in research are welcome to apply!

Applications are due 11/15. Interviews will be scheduled 11/20-11/25 and accepted interns will be notified on or before 11/26.

Examples of past internship projects:

  1. Does household illicit drug use increase children’s risk of child abuse?
  2. What patient factors impact autism diagnoses and access to resource?
  3. How does housing insecurity impact children with asthma’s emergency department use?
  4. How does communication between providers during patient transfer impact patient’s hospital visit?

Ongoing projects:

  1. What are the predictors and reasons for incomplete or delayed vaccination in children?
  2. How can we increase physical activity among children with heart issues?
  3. Do previous health care visits predict adolescent suicide attempts and how can we improve mental health screening?

Interviews: 11/20/19 – 11/25/19
Spring internship dates: 1/6/20 – 5/1/20
Summer internship dates: 5/18/20 – 7/30/20
