Job summary
The Red Hat Marketing team is looking for an Even Marketing Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work in an environment that values collaboration, innovation, and diverse perspectives. You will assist in planning and executing events from sponsorship of third party industry conferences to Red Hat’s annual user conference. Your daily responsibilities will include serving as an event assistant, working closely with event managers, product marketing managers and our internal design agency to track progress on event goals, content, and promotion, and coordinate all event logistics. You will utilize exceptional project management skills to manage pre-event planning reviews and communications and post-event follow-up, ensuring that all stakeholders are working together to deliver a high-quality event. You will need to have an interest in marketing, demand generation campaigns, digital advertising, and general technology as this role requires you to first be a marketer to distribute Red Hat’s message and brand awareness. You will need to have a record of running successful events and have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Primary job responsibilities
- Assist the planning, production, and implementation of third party industry tradeshows hosted in North America and globally
- Serve as an assistant to the lead event manager; you’ll be responsible for pre-event discovery and planning, event flow, event promotion, printing and shipping, budget management, related travel arrangements, staffing, social media scheduling and reporting, post-event survey and reporting, etc.
- Manage event calendar, project timelines, and event budget
- Maintain a current inventory of event materials and supplies
- Oversee the purchasing, packing, and distribution of specified event supplies before, during, and after each campaign
- Expertly promote pre-event weekly meetings; assist and prepare event planning presentations
- Build and distribute regular pre-event status reports and post-event trip reports
- Write and manage post-event thank you communications to vendors and partners
- Work closely with marketing, sales, offering teams, PR, upper management, and field evangelists to achieve business goals via event marketing
Required skills
- Ability to work full time hours during summer 2020 in the location listed
- 0-3 year(s) of relevant work experience in event marketing; experience in marketing B2B technology products or services is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or relevant field of study
- Demonstrated success in event management or project management
- Willingness and ability to work independently and autonomously
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with an innate attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

- Ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities to implement high quality deliverables
- Skilled negotiator with proven experience finding creative ways to do more with less and a record of staying on budget
- Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization
- Proven knowledge of industry tools like Salesforce.com (SFDC) and HTML
