Participate consists of two sister companies: Participate Learning and Participate, Inc.

Participate Learning is a B Corporation located in Chapel Hill, NC that partners with K-12 schools and districts to provide cultural exchange teachers, global education support services  and language immersion programs in Spanish and Mandarin.

Participate, Inc. partners with organizations to offer leading-edge technology in the form of online Communities of Practice. These communities provide practical trainings and tools across a variety of topics that can be immediately integrated into classrooms.

Position Summary

We are looking for an intern who can start in April working 4 – 8 hours/week and then increasing their hours up to 40 hours in the summer. We are also interested in candidates who are available to work part-time throughout the 2020-2021 school year (working 10-15 hours/week during the semester).

The HR Intern will be responsible for assisting the HR Generalist and HR Director with projects including, but not limited to staff onboarding, filing, recruiting, payroll and benefits processing. The Human Resources Intern will be expected to support daily HR operations and provide excellent customer service to Participate teachers and staff.

Essential Functions

  • Resolve Human Resources questions about benefits through Salesforce cases as assigned
  • Create and maintain staff and teacher files
  • Update teacher and staff personnel changes in HRIS and benefits systems
  • Prepare for new employee orientation trainings and onboarding
  • Prepare for new teacher arrival orientation
  • Database reporting and audits
  • Coordinate job postings, candidate applications, schedule interviews and support the recruiting process
  • Support HR projects and initiatives

  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills and Google applications
  • Strong customer service skills with problem solving capabilities
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team oriented environment
  • Pursuing or recently completed Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Communication or related field preferred
  • Interest in the Human Resources profession
