As a Communications Intern, you will be an integral member of the Jaka’Z Inc. team. You’ll get real-life, meaningful communication experience. You’ll be researching and writing content to illustrate the branding message we aim to send. It’s a great chance to find out what business communications work is really like for a start-up, get an inside peek at the behind-the-scenes work our company is doing, and generate work for future portfolios.
The ideal candidate is a great writer, an avid storyteller, an intrepid researcher and a creative communicator. You must excel in written and verbal communication, be social media-savvy, comfortable inside a website and able to manage a complex assignment from start to end. You should be a detail-oriented person, a serious self-starter, and an adept project juggler. Success in this role is defined by your ability to help our team create & push out content that tells the story of our brand and what we’re promoting to generate sales and repeat business.
This is an unpaid internship, but full class credit can be provided in coordination with faculty. Small transportation stipend provided, when funds are available.
MUST be an undergrad/graduate student in Greenville, NC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: An individual must be able to perform the duties listed below at a satisfactory level:
Communications
• Assist Communications Team (Internal, External, PR, Digital/Social Media) with writing, researching, curating and composing content
Relationship Management
• Interact with clientele throughout Jaka’Z Inc.
• Collaborate with local Jaka’Z Inc. staff on branding content

REQUIREMENTS: The Summer/Fall semester Intern opportunity is open to recent graduates or current students of undergraduate or graduate programs. Seeking an undergraduate or graduate student in the Greenville, NC Area majoring in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, or English. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, marketing skills with the ability to storytell to compel and help generate leads and repeat business. They also should have the ability to demonstrate leadership teachable leadership skills. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Other selection criteria will include demonstrated project management and team leadership experience, GPA/academic achievement, and extracurricular/civic activities. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to work with all levels of staff. Excellent Microsoft Office, communication, data management, digital and social media marketing skills. Knowledge of public relations and media is a plus.
