Stand Beside Them Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help veterans with the difficult transition from the military to civilian life and attain the happiness and quality of life here that they deserve after serving our country.
They are seeking an intern who is willing to commit approximately 21-24 hours a week for 3-4 months. Military veteran students can be paid by VA since we are a Work-Study Provider. For non-military students, this is unpaid but can be for credit.
Responsibilities:
– Be a liaison with VA and veteran service organizations, military service branches, and other agencies working with veterans, providing info on our organization;
-Maintain and update the website www.standbesidethem.org and all social media;
– Help develop promotional and marketing materials and a monthly newsletter;
– Occasional speech writing or press releases;
– Correspond and speak with incoming veterans and coaches;
– Help with all special events, webinars, meetings when needed.
Required skills:
– Excellent communication, research, writing, and computer skills;
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office; proficiency with MAC.
– Proficiency with all social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & LinkedIn;
– Excellent organizational skills;
– Experience with Photoshop a plus.
Highly Preferred:
– Junior, Senior, or Masters Degree student;
– Proficiency with WIX or other website development programs, MAC, Excel, Powerpoint;
– Interest in veteran’s issues and/or coaching a big plus, as is being a veteran.
