GREENVILLE-PITT COUNTY SENIOR GAMES
 

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY – SILVERARTS SHOWCASE EXHIBITION COMMUNICATIONS 

JANUARY – JUNE 15, 2021 

  1. Project Background and Description 
  Greenville-Pitt County Senior Games offers people 50 years of age and better athletic/recreational and arts competitions annually. Winners may qualify for North Carolina State Finals competitions each year. The SilverArts Showcase exhibits various works of art from participants living in Pitt, Beaufort, Martin, Hertford, and Bertie Counties 

Artists may enter their work in the following categories: 

Heritage Arts: Basket Weaving, Crocheting, Needlework, Jewelry, Knitting, Pottery (thrown & hand built), Quilting (hand stitched), Quilting (machine stitched), Tole/ Decorative Painting, Stained Glass, WeavingWoodcarving, Woodworking, Woodturning   

Literary Arts: Essays (not autobiographical), Life Experiences (autobiographical), Poetry, Short Stories (fiction)   

Performing Arts: Comedy/Drama, Dance, Instrumental, Vocal, Line Dancing   

Cheerleading  

Visual Arts: Acrylics, Drawing, Mixed Media, Oil, Pastels, Photography (Digital), Photography (film), Sculpture, Watercolor   

Arts OPEN:  Any specialty talent including but not limited to: scrapbooking, cake decorating, wreath making, book making etc. (This category not eligible for NC Senior Games State Finals competitions unless they meet sanctioning rules.) 

 

 

 

  1. Scope 
   

This internship will assist in promoting the annual SilverArts Showcase exhibition held during the Greenville-Pitt County Senior Games Celebration of Athletes and Artists.  

  • Interns will be expected to developrintvideo and social media communications for the SilverArts Showcase exhibit to include: 
  1. Online social media and print pre-exhibit promotional communications 
  1. Produce Showcase Exhibit video for use across multiple media platforms 
  1. Print an online social media post-exhibit communications. 

. 

 

  1. Requirements 
 
  • Interest in the arts, senior health and well-being 
  • Attendance at creative development meetings with advisors/Local SG Staff 
  • Present ideas for promotion, video, set-up for the annual SilverArts exhibition  
  • Attendance at the SilverArts Exhibition for communication/video development 
  • Read the North Carolina Senior Games SilverArts Handbook 

 

 

  1. Other 
  In 2021, the SilverArts Showcase Exhibition takes place during the week of June 7-10. Volunteer judges from the community judge the artwork and select medal/award winners. 

Students/others meeting the Requirements are welcome and encouraged to participate as an ad hoc Senior Games Steering Committee member as well. 

 

Community Schools and Recreation is the lead agency for Greenville-Pitt County Senior Games with Greenville Recreation and Parks, ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness, City of Washington Parks and Recreation, Senior Programs at Vidant Medical Center and the Mid-East Area Agency on Aging serving as coordinating agencies.
