Our ideal candidate has good cross-cultural communication skills, is a quick learner, takes initiative, and is responsible. This role will be given agency over an area and we need a reliable student to step up to the challenge.
It will be 15-20 hours per week and the pay will be at least $12/hour. It’s self-help so undergraduate or graduate students can apply.
The duties include:
Communications (45%)
· Student-driven communications including outreach and responses to WhatsApp, GroupMe, and WeChat, one-on-one meetings with incoming students about ECU student life
· Co-host monthly open Zoom meetings for prospective students with the International Admissions Counselor
· Assist with virtual recruitment presentations
· Co-host pre-departure orientation
· Write and send the Weekly Digest for the International Student Hub
· Oversee ECULA conversation hour
Event Coordination (35%)
· Create posters and make announcements for events and seasonal activities
· Manage the weekly Coffee Hours including inventory and purchase requests before, setup, take down, and administrative items like signing in
· Assist in the organization and facilitation of international student events, including the welcome cookout, tailgate, excursions, and seasonal activities
Orientation (10%)
· Prepare for new student orientation including name tags, and orientation packets, ensuring materials are ready in advance, setting up the room on the day, etc.
· Collect and record immigration documents
· Present about ECU club activities and organizations on campus
· Chaperone the afternoon activities including lunch, shopping trip, and campus scavenger hunt
Office Management (10%)
· Review ECULA student surveys (once per semester)
· Review course selections for Exchange students
· Interview Staff to create an IE&E office manual (CPT/OPT, Exchange student, etc.)
· Editing and reviewing the International Student Hub/ IE&E office manual
· Technology Assistance (Help set up teams/zoom in the meeting room)
