The Duke Athletics Communications office is looking for qualified candidates to fill its internship positions for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. The successful candidates will join one of the top NCAA Division I athletics departments, assisting the athletics communications office in promoting the institution’s student-athletes and 27 varsity sports programs.
The successful candidate will be the primary/secondary communications contact for selected sports, as well as provide support for all other programs and events related to athletics, which may include and not limited to writing, statistics capturing, research, editing of media guides/record books, transcribing quotes, and other duties as assigned.
The goal of the internship program is for students to be trained and gain direct work experience in the field of college athletics and college athletic communications. This position must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends—excellent communication, verbal, and written skills, alongside organizational and time management skills.
All internships will be volunteer based, but will be able to obtain internship credit for their school. There will be opportunities to work events on campus to obtain extra money during the year.
Former Duke interns have gone on to obtain full-time jobs at Duke, Pitt, Florida, Georgia Southern, ACC, Vanderbilt, etc.
Interested candidates should reach out to senior associate director of communications Lindy Brown at lindy.brown@duke.edu.
