North Carolina Oral Health Collaborative – Communications Intern

NCOHC convenes diverse stakeholders to identify and resolve consumer-level and systemic barriers to optimal oral health, and to accelerate implementation of policies and practices that reduce oral health disparities and promote improved oral health outcomes for all North Carolinians.

 

About the Position

 

The Communications Intern is a part-time position reporting to the Content Marketing Specialist with oversight from the NCOHC Director. The individual in this position will assist the Content Marketing Specialist in researching content, interviewing issue experts, and drafting blog posts and other content for the NCOHC website and associated platforms. Additionally, the Communications Intern will assist the Content Marketing Specialist in analyzing and informing NCOHC’s social media strategy to improve its social media presence.

 

Position Summary

 

The Communications Intern will primarily serve in a content development role. This includes researching content on NCOHC’s editorial calendar, identifying and interviewing issue experts, and drafting blog posts for the NCOHC website and associated platforms. Additionally, the Communications Intern will assist the Content Marketing Specialist in analyzing and informing NCOHC’s social media strategy.

 

Essential Internship Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Research issues in equity and access to oral health care in North Carolina, identifying content for blog posts in NCOHC’s editorial calendar.
  • Identifying and interviewing issue experts.
  • Drafting blog posts for the NCOHC website.
  • Collaborating with NCOHC partners, co-developing content for promotion.
  • Drafting content for the NCOHC email newsletter.
  • Drafting social media content for NCOHC’s Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles.
  • Collaborating on updates to the NCOHC social media strategy.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate

 

  • An ability to understand and translate complex topics for public consumption.
  • Strong communications skills, especially in journalistic-style writing.
  • An understanding of professional social media account management.
  • An interest in public health/oral health and a willingness to learn.

 

Requirements

 

  • Coursework completion in written communications
  • Coursework completion in, or an understanding of, professional social media management

 

This is a 100% remote position open for immediate hire.

 

Compensation

 

This position is a fixed 14-week, part-time position, non-exempt to FLSA, working no more than 20 hours / week.

 

Salary will be based on a $10/hr. rate.
