OUR MISSION:

We believe that the internship is the cornerstone of a student’s professional preparation. It allows a student to apply classroom theories, concepts and prior experience in a practical, professional setting. We’ve structured our program accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY, Junior, Senior, and Graduate Students
• Must receive academic credit (students are required to provide documentation of receiving academic credit for the internship experience)
• NO financial compensation is available for any position; Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the students
• NO interviews will be conducted by phone
• Some game nights and/or weekends may be required; flexibility to participate a plus
• Students must demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, a customer-first attitude, and strong verbal and written communication skills, in addition to the requirements for the “Open Internships”
OPEN INTERNSHIPS…..
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
• Learn to handle charitable donation requests
• Community Relations mail and e-mail
• Archiving of donation requests
• Learn how the Flyers School Assembly Program is coordinated and organized
• Learn how Flyers team/individual public appearances and promotional events are executed
• Learn how the Flyers Community Teammates Program is organized
• Participate in the organization of the Junior Flyers Club
• Participate in the scheduling of locations for the Flyers Face-Off for Fitness Program
• Perform other projects as assigned
CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Under the direction and supervision of the Customer Service staff, participate in the marketing and promotions for Season Tickets Holders including individual game tickets as well as any sales promotions and playoff packages.
• Learn to use database for Season Ticket Holder mailings.
• Assist with customer service projects and initiatives.
• Assist in maintaining service databases.
• Learn game-day customer relations and execution of season ticket holder in-game benefits.
• Learn and participate in the execution of game-day promotions.
• Active participation in the Brainstorming sessions related to proposed sales / marketing projects.
• Other objectives as assigned.
FLYERS SKATE ZONE
• Learn to update and maintain Flyers Skate Zone websites
• Assist with creating content for websites
• Assist with editing and composing press releases and media advisories
• Assist in creation and production of TV spots
• Representing Flyers Skate Zone at grassroots appearances throughout the Delaware Valley along with regular staff members
• Conducting marketing research on both local and national levels
• Participate in the communication with each rink’s GM and staff to help maintain solid communication
• Research new strategic grassroots campaigns for Skate Zone
• Learn to coordinate merchandise promotions with Director of Retail
• Additional objectives/projects as assigned
GAME PRESENTATION (DAY)
• Under the supervision of the Game Presentation department, learn to in plan, organize and execute an array of elements necessary for the in-game entertainment of all home Flyers hockey games
• Assist with pre-game preparation and set up for various promotions and theme nights
• Assist in the formulation of creative and innovative ways to market Flyers products and services in-arena
• Assist in liaising with part time interns in regards to scheduling and logistics
• Assist with the organization of all game night inventory and promotional supplies
• Assist with the creation of game night messaging copy and schedules
• Assist with other Flyers events in and out of the arena when necessary
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
GAME PRESENTATION (GAME NIGHT)
• Assist in the execution of all in-game promotions under the direction of the Game Operations Coordinator
• Assist with pre-game preparation and set up for various promotions and theme nights
• Assist with the dissemination of giveaways and marketing collateral pre-game on the concourse
• Help market our products and customer services to fans during games and events
• Assist with on-ice promotions during intermissions
• Assist with the implementation and execution of all in-game sponsorship contracts
• Keeping the fans excited and cheering throughout the game
• Keep enthusiasm level high from start to finish of the game/season
• Gain knowledge of the facility and the team
• Attend pre and post-game meetings
• Act as a positive representative for the organization in and out of the arena during all games and various community events (i.e. Pep Rally’s, Community Relations and Publicity events)
• Other duties and objectives as assigned
MARKETING
• Learn to create and assist with team marketing plans and campaigns
• Learn to create and assist with proofing of all marketing collaterals – print, TV, radio, outdoor, collateral, etc.
• Conduct extensive marketing research
• Learn to/assist New Media Manager with updating of Flyers social networking sites
• Participate in the execution of game night promotions under direction and supervision or Marketing Manager
• Assist Publicist with proofing and editing of press releases and advisories
• Attend community events and publicity stunts under direction and supervision of Publicist
• Assist in maintaining inventory of game-used equipment, autographed items and promotional giveaways
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
NEW MEDIA / MARKETING
• Learn to create and assist with team marketing plans and campaigns
• Covering team practice for the website along with regular employees
• Graphic Design
• Conduct marketing research
• Along with regular employees, represent the Flyers at community grassroots appearances
• Assist updating of Flyers social networking sites
• Maintain and establish relationships with local media partners
• Assist Marketing staff with the operation of game-night promotions
• Assist Publicist with proofing and editing of press releases and advisories
• Assist with maintaining inventory of Flyers Collectibles
• Conduct research and assist in the creation of new revenue streams
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Learning to compile daily press clips from online sources
• Learn to plan and execute game-day activities, including production and distribution of game notes and press credentials, setting up of press box, assistance with press box operations during games, and the recording and transcribing of postgame press conferences
• Assist Public Relations staff with various projects involving research and design, including game notes, Flyer Magazine and others
• Help keep PR storage areas organized
• Learn about and assist with the various types of ways the department distributes information, including press releases, press conferences, publicity events, off-day media availabilities, and social media
• Involvement in organization and selection of photos for department use from both games and off-ice events
• Attend and assist with Flyers training camp and exhibition games
• Perform all other objectives, projects and responsibilities as assigned
PUBLIC RELATIONS (GAME NIGHT)
• Learn to plan and execute game-day activities, including production and distribution of game notes and press credentials, setting up of press box, assistance with press box operations during games, and the recording and transcribing of postgame press conferences
• Help keep PR storage areas organized
• Learn about and assist with the various types of ways the department distributes information, including press releases, press conferences, publicity events, off-day media availabilities, and social media
• Involvement in organization and selection of photos for department use from both games and off-ice events

TICKET SALES & CLIENT DEVELOPMENT
• Learn to create and assist in maintaining season ticket holder benefits, programs and clubs.
• Learn to create and maintain sales and client development databases.
• Assist departments with the marketing and promotions of Season Tickets and Game Plans, individual game tickets, as well as any sales promotions and playoff packages.
• Learn to plan and execute game day events and promotions.
• Attend brainstorming sessions dedicated to developing new and innovative sales and marketing plans.
• Assist staff in developing new and inventive ways to build and maximize relationships with customers.
• Other objectives, projects and responsibilities as assigned.
WEB PR
• Help produce content for the official Flyers website (stories, features, bios, videos)
• Learn to plan and execute game-day activities, including production and distribution of game notes and press credentials, setting up of press box, assistance with press box operations during games, and the recording and transcribing of postgame press conferences
• Learn about and assist with the various types of ways the department distributes information, including press releases, press conferences, publicity events, off-day media availabilities, and social media
• Involvement in organization and selection of photos for department use from both games and off-ice events
• Perform all other objectives, projects and responsibilities as assigned
