Local Internship with Hyster-Yale in Greenville – PAID Summer and Fall

(HYG), a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an Internal Communications Intern at our Americas Division headquarters located in Greenville, NC. HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts. We are one of the global leaders in the material handling industry and have been building relationships and partnering with our customers, suppliers, dealers and employees for over 90 years.

Our internal communications Intern will gain meaningful, real‐world experience in evaluating communication needs for our employees across the US and globally, writing and creating effective communication messaging and assets for a diverse audience of employees, and supporting critical Human Resource programs and efforts.  You can expect to develop confidence and marketable skills by engaging in activities such as:

  • Participating in strategy meetings, including with company leaders
  • Developing, managing and implementing a communications project and plan from start to finish
  • Participating in established critical team projects already under way
  • Supporting efforts focused on engagement and employee experience
  • Writing, developing and sharing content and messaging across multi-media internal communication channels, including digital and social media outlets
  • Producing videos
  • Designing print materials and graphic design elements for communication channels

To be considered for the Internal Communications Internship for Summer, Fall or Spring sessions, you must:

  • Major in communications, public relations, digital media, media studies, English, journalism or marketing at an accredited university or college
  • Be a junior, senior or graduate student
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Have excellent writing skills
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)
  • Have experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other design and creative platforms 
  • Have experience and skills in video production (a portfolio of design projects and videos will be requested)

Professionalism, confidentiality, trustworthiness and ability to work well with diverse audiences is a must. Applicants are responsible for transportation to and from the internship experience.   This program will be hybrid – with the majority of the time in-person and on site at the Americas Headquarters in Greenville, NC. Hours are flexible and depend on the student’s class schedule, course requirements (if applicable) and availability.

This is a paid internship.  Hours per week will be minimally 20 hours with maximum of 40 hours.
