Ketchum is seeking candidates for our spring internship program in our Washington, DC office. Students will intern in one of our four divisions: Healthcare/Pharmaceutical, Consumer Health and Wellness, Social Marketing, or Public Affairs. Students in this program will act as fully integrated members of account teams and will be assigned a mentor for support and guidance to help them get acclimated into the PR industry and business environment.
Our interns learn about video and print production, media training, research, crisis communications, speech writing, media placement, event planning, publication design and a host of other topics. These areas will help provide you with a strong public relations background and technical skills.
Responsibilities may include:
Developing and updating media lists
Monitoring and tracking media
Writing media updates
Creating clip reports
Preparing media pitch letters
Writing fact sheets and backgrounders
Assisting with the development of press releases
Assisting in event coordination
Participating in research for new business opportunities and client presentations
Providing account team support
Qualifications:
Candidates for B.A. or B.S., preferably with specialization in journalism, communications, public relations, business, marketing, political science, English or related course of study. Excellent writing skills are a must. You must be able to work full-time Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm. A passionate interest in public relations. Previous internships or extracurricular activities, including membership in PRSSA a plus. The internship program is designed for students in their senior year and recent graduates, however we will accept applications from motivated juniors as long as their available to work full-time.
