Summary of Position
National Geographic’s Home Entertainment division is looking for an intern for the Spring 2012 semester. The intern will learn about product distribution, asset management, and creative marketing processes in a home entertainment production and marketing environment.
Internship Responsibilities

  • Observe and assist in the creation of DVDs, including: Researching bonus features, performing product quality checks, and creating and designing DVD covers and packaging.
  • Learn to research different advertising outlets for DVD ad placement.
  • Assist with gathering assets for DVD production and learning how to track assets going to/from the Film Library.
  • Work with marketing team to manage the Video-on-Demand (VOD) and Electronic Sell-Through (EST) business by organizing assets sent to VOD and EST providers, tracking titles, shipping masters, and contributing to our online store.
  • Participate in intern events at National Geographic Society.

Minimum Education & Experience
Must be enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Business, Media Entertainment, or a related field. Completion of at least two years of college level courses required.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
Computer competency is necessary including experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet research. Applicants must have strong writing and research skills. A zeal for historical and cultural subject matter and an eagerness to learn are a plus.
