Public Relations Coordinator

Our State magazine is searching for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as Public Relations Coordinator. As a member of the Integrated Marketing team, the Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for implementing programs and public relations campaigns that ensure the high visibility and continued growth of Our State magazine. He/she will coordinate efforts through traditional and innovative channels and relationships.

Our State magazine is North Carolina’s premier magazine devoted to travel, history, and culture. Our State offers a stimulating, progressive work environment with opportunities for professional development and growth for a highly-motivated public relations professional.

Primary Duties will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Day-to-day, hands-on execution and management of strategic PR programs, promoting both the magazine and projects/events, to achieve significant increases in brand awareness and consumer engagement.
  • Manage subscriber development programs and partnerships, seeking new opportunities to grow paid subscriber base.
  • Identify key media outlets and develop working relationships.
  • Understanding and articulating the Our State brand experience to media, consumers, and community.
  • Develop compelling story angles in promoting monthly issues of the magazine.
  • Write clear and compelling press releases for magazine monthly issues, online and live marketing programs/events, and for other Our State efforts.
  • Actively identify appropriate outlets and pitch stories to local, regional, and national media to gain Our State recognition.
  • Manage Our State speakers bureau, scheduling speakers as requested and as audience appropriate.
  • Contribute to Our State social media outlets.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have high energy level and an outgoing personality.
  • Ideal candidate will have an established network of media and community contacts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in marketing, public relations, and community relations.
  • Experience and comfort in public speaking.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A strong sense of teamwork and ability to both develop and execute programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or marketing.
