Marketing and Communications Intern Job Description

Alzheimer’s North Carolina, Inc is an organization dedicated to providing education, support and services to individuals with dementia, their families, health care professionals and the general public while raising awareness and funding for research of a cause(s), treatment, prevention and cure for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The non-profit organization supports the 170,000 North Carolinians with Alzheimer’s Disease and works in partnership with people in need from all walks of life to develop a  better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and care for those diagnosed.

Description:

Alzheimer’s North Carolina seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a well-known community based nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities:

Update AlzNC’s website and social media presence

Assist in planning, writing and managing our newsletter

Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories

Attend monthly communication meetings including preparing agenda and taking minutes

Qualifications:

Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, 
Marketing Communications or Public Relations)

Must have a working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel

An effective communicator, both written and oral

Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts

Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

Enthusiasm for our mission and the families we serve

We offer flexibility in your schedule and would prefer twice a week in the office. Up to 4 hours can be completed at home. Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship
