SPORTS JOURNALISM OPPORTUNITIES
ESPN Stats & Information Group

Application Deadline:  Friday, Feb. 1, for Feb. 28 UGA campus interviews

Are you interested in a job where you can combine a passion for sports with the curiosity to go beyond the box score? If statistics, storylines, news-headline writing and editing are a big part of your sports game, then ESPN Stats & Information is the place for you. We are a pressure-packed, exciting work environment specializing in information dissemination across ESPN. Our content is used across multiple platforms — television, digital media, radio, ESPN The Magazine, and ESPN Mobile.  Positions include BottomLine Editor, Stats Analyst, Production Researcher and Analytic Specialist.

– BottomLine manages the editorial content and technical operation of the domestic and international BottomLines featured on nearly every ESPN TV network and program. Staff members are accountable for making editorial decisions, writing effective news headlines and driving context for all scores, stats and results.

– Production Analytics is the newest addition to the S&I family. Launched in summer 2010, this group is charged with helping ESPN take a leap forward in the rapidly-growing world of sports statistical analysis. Team members create and evaluate sports metrics, formulate algorithms and partner with production teams across platforms to integrate the content into our coverage.

– Production Research provides perspective and context around key sporting occurrences; this information is used across platforms. Team members generate original content for digital media and full-screen television graphics (including Next Level Statistics), anchor lead-ins and original pieces, and provide live updates to talent in studio.

– Stats & Analysis serves all of the company’s entities with real-time scoring, updates and all statistical information for pro and college sports, including Next Level Statistics. In addition, S&A employs innovative ways to create and use data through third-party providers, video tracking and vast statistical warehouses.

If you’re interested in a full-time position or internship with any of these departments, please email a copy of your resume to the Stats & Info hiring inbox at ESPN.Stats.And.Information.Hiring@espn.com.

Those selected for a Feb. 28 interview will be notified of the time and location.
