Internship Description:
The media relations and issues management functions are responsible for increasing the positive media stories and decreasing the negative stories about the company.
Throughout your Media Relations Internship, you will work side by side with experienced professionals to translate your classroom knowledge into real-world challenges in a dynamic business environment. Specifically, you will assist the Media Relations team, specifically senior managers, with the following:
pitching news stories
responding to media inquiries
drafting press releases
assisting with compilation and distribution of daily news story (clips) compilation emails
identify proactive story ideas/opportunities that are news worthy
During your internship you will gain experience dealing with journalists. We will also provide opportunities for you to participate in meetings with Corporate Relations leadership as well as client partners in various business units across the enterprise.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a deep interest and general understanding of media relations, demonstrate strong oral and excellent written communication skills, the ability to assume responsibility, prioritize their work, and think creatively. Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to writing, media pitching, social media, and crisis communication is strongly preferred.
Prior public relations internship experience in a corporate environment is ideal.
Education:
We prefer candidates who are upper-level undergraduate students majoring in Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or first year graduate students.
