Intern – American English Language Teaching Editorial Oxford University Press – New York, NY

Job Responsibilities

The American English Language Teaching division is currently accepting applications for an Editorial Intern for the Oxford University Press USA Summer Internship Program.

NOTE: This is a PAID internship.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the editorial team to edit and prepare manuscript at various stages of development
  • Attending local recording studio sessions with members of the editorial team
  • Contacting manuscript reviewers and collating reviews
  • Editing and preparing online and digital content for quality and usability
  • Performing quality control checks on new media components
  • Working with editors to create and organize an author/editor database
  • Working with administrative assistant to facilitate the completion of various editorial and administrative tasks

At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have gained knowledge regarding the day to day business of publishing English language teaching materials. Additionally, the Intern will have learned about online and digital publishing and the various ways that Oxford’s American English Language Teaching division is using technology to produce and deliver products. The Intern will have strengthened his or her editorial, writing, proofing, and communication skills, in addition to developing his or her professional skills.

Interns will have the opportunity to meet and learn from members of other departments as well.

Job Ad Requirements

  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework, preferably in the areas of Education, English, or Literature
  • Experience in writing and editing is a plus. Tutoring experience, especially in languages or writing is helpful.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and be comfortable working with various web browsers (Internet Explorer. Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari)

Applicants must be enrolled in a degreed program with at least one year of schooling completed, graduated from a degreed program in the past year or enrolled in a degreed program where college credit is granted for the completion of an internship.
