COMMUNICATIONS INTERN Southface Atlanta, GA

Position Overview
Since 1978, Southface (a 501(c)3 nonprofit) has been committed to helping people live, work and play in comfortable, healthy buildings that save money by conserving energy, water and other natural resources. The Communications Intern will support the work of the Communications Team by assisting with outreach and marketing efforts promoting Southface’s programs and services. This is a full-time position that begins this summer and lasts for six months.
 
Learning by Doing
The Communications Intern will have the opportunity to sharpen professional skills in the nonprofit sector while working on the following projects, events and tasks:
· Provide communications support for Southface programs, services and events
· Create content to support the Southface Journal and Southface events and programming
· Support Southface social media efforts, including content development for Facebook,
Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn
· Create and send electronic newsletters and announcements
· Assist with Southface website maintenance
· Provide program and event management support for the Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable
(SART)
 
Professional Development Opportunities
· Software training with a website content management system (CMS) and Raiser’s Edge
database
· LEED Green Associate Training
· Other Southface trainings as applicable to specific projects and individual interests
Qualifications
· College degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field
· Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize project deadlines
· Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
· Social media and website CMS experience is a plus, but not required
· Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office
· Commitment to the Southface mission
