The Assistant Director is responsible for managing the internship program, which includes connecting with local, regional and national employers, and alumni to establish relationships and increase the quality and quantity of opportunities for Union students. The Assistant Director will provide instruction and advise students from diverse backgrounds on all aspects of career planning and internship preparation. The Assistant Director is responsible for collaborating with all members of the Union community, especially academic affairs, college relations, athletics, student clubs and organizations, Greek Life, Residential Life, etc. to help students achieve their goal of securing practical experience. The Assistant Director will develop and present workshops and programs and provide career advising for undergraduate students. Additionally, the Assistant Director will systematically communicate with students, faculty, coaches, parents, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications Master’s degree in student personnel administration or a related discipline, 2-5 years of experience in a higher education career services environment including counseling and advising of students, knowledge of the internship and employment recruitment process, excellent interpersonal, teamwork and project management skills, ability to interact and develop rapport with varied constituencies (faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and employers), effective public speaking and presentation skills, excellent written communication and office computer skills, and knowledge of career related information technologies. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
