PART-TIME PUBLIC RELATIONS/SPECIAL EVENTS INTERN — The Town of Duck, North Carolina, (pop. 500, seasonal 20,000) is seeking a part-time Public Relations/Special Events Intern to provide administrative and technical assistance to the Town’s Special Events and Public Information Officer. The position will assist with event planning, publicizing, coordination, and execution.  The position will also assist with day-to-day public relations activities including, but not limited to, drafting press releases, assisting with the distribution of literature, and updating the Town’s web site and social media.  The applicant must be a student with interest in or ideally majoring in one or more of the following, or a closely related field: public relations, event management, recreation and leisure studies, hospitality, economics, planning, business administration, public management, political science. The ideal candidate will display the following qualities: excellent writing and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a team environment. The position is part time and the applicant must be able to work flexible hours including early mornings and evenings throughout the summer months.  The applicant must also have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license.  Additionally, the applicant must provide his/her own housing.  Please submit a resume and cover letter to the Town of Duck at P.O.
