2013-2014 Charlotte Checkers Public and Media Relations Internship
The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in aspects of the Checkers’ Public Relations and Communications department. The primary responsibility of this department is to manage the day-to-day communications of the Checkers, including providing regular website content relating to the team and its efforts in the community and promoting stories and events via the team’s various digital properties. The department is also responsible for managing relationships with the media and relating all team news through press releases and social media.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work ALL Charlotte Checkers games (Weekdays & Weekends)
- Organizing and labeling game day and event photos
- Conducting research on social media trends
- Creating media guide
- Re-organization of team/player records
- Creation and day-to-day maintenance of web pages
- Statistical research and record keeping
- Editing photos for publishing
- Updating in-game twitter feed
- Occasional writing assignments for website
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent sports and hockey knowledge
- Excellent verbal communication and written skills
