Deep South Internship Opportunities

At Deep South, we do a bit of everything: artist management, talent booking, and event production (just to name a few).  Each intern is assigned to a full-time employee based on what we agree are your strongest assets/areas of interest.  That employee will give you an inside look at their side of the company, while still garnering an overall immersion in the various facets of our business.
Our intern program is unpaid, but there are some potential tasks throughout the school year and summer that are rewarded monetarily. For example, we do a summer concert series in downtown Raleigh (Oak City 7) that requires a lot of marketing beforehand and help on show days. Interns are given first option to fill paid positions on show days. Paid positions on show days include everything from hospitality, to selling band merchandise, to being a security guard or a greeter, etc.
Almost every full time employee at Deep South started as an intern. The scheduling aspect of the intern program is totally flexible. We’ll sync up your schedule versus ours and see what days you could come into the office. Regarding the application process, all we ask is that you’d be willing to come into the office and meet with me and probably one other person.
So, if you’re still interested after reading all this, send an e-mail back to:
john@deepsouthentertainment.com with some times you’d be available to come in and meet.  Please suggest a few options on any of those days that you could meet with us and we’ll schedule a time for you to sit down with us.  Also, please send your resume along with your reply, if you have not already.
Answers to a few questions that you may have:
*How long is the internship?
The internship lasts approximately 4 months (one semester).  Although being in school is not required by any means, we run our internships generally from semester to semester.   At the end of the 4 months, often interns will stay on or will come back from time to time to help with special projects or events.  The summer session is a bit shorter than the fall and spring sessions, of course.
*How often will I have to intern?
Interns start with one day a week for a minimum of 3 hours.  Some interns add a second day quickly.  If you are interning for school credit and need more hours we will accommodate your schedule.
*How old do you have to be to intern?
If you are under 18 you need parental permission. We sometimes have high school seniors that intern for school credit, and are happy to fill out the appropriate forms with your school if needed.
*When are the Deep South Offices open?
The Deep South Offices are open Monday-Friday 10am-7pm, we usually have events on the weekends, but are generally not in the office.
*Are there full time paid jobs at Deep South ?
Currently we are not hiring.  But Deep South does have a full time staff of approximately 10 people. Almost every employee at Deep South started as an intern.  Amy Cox, who has been at Deep South since we started in 1995 was one of our very first interns!
