Position Summary :

Octagon is the premier global sports and entertainment marketing division of The Interpublic Group of Companies, one of the world’s largest advertising and marketing communications groups.

Octagon is seeking a limited-term Event Coordinator. This position is based in Atlanta, GA and will assist the Account Executive with day-to-day duties of managing a premier college football sponsorship property for a home improvement retailer. This is a 4-month paid position ending January 2014. The Event Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and supervising weekly event volunteers by contacting college and university organizations, managing staff travel, communicating with and managing store promotions in each market, creation of weekly VIP communication pieces, weekly recaps and reporting, assisting with sponsor fulfillment and assisting with program overview at conclusion of season.

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Assist in administration and event operations of weekly on-site broadcasts, including coordinating weekly hospitality, making travel arrangements, event promotion via social media, and coordinating on-site materials (shipping and tracking of promotional items, signage, collateral, etc.)
  • Travel to broadcast locations as needed to assist in the activation and supervision of client’s on-site programming
  • Record and report program data including participant information, post-event surveys, store manager and customer comments, etc.
  • Assist in day-to-day general office administration such as answering phones, managing incoming and outgoing mail/packages and shipments, etc.
  • Other related duties/projects as reasonably assigned
  • Weekend/holiday work and travel are required

Required Qualifications :

  • College degree, preferably in marketing, communication, public relations, or related field
  • At least 1 previous marketing related internship/employment required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, solve problems independently, and supervise others
  • Strong proficiency in Office; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of sports, event marketing, and retail industry is a plus
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends, holidays, and nonstandard hours
  • Ability to lift 25lbs
