Governance Studies

The Governance Studies Program at the Brookings Institution is currently accepting applications for a communications internship in spring 2014. Internships typically run from January through May 2014 , though exact start and end dates are flexible. Please note that all positions are unpaid .

This intern will provide support to Governance Studies’ communications officer, website coordinator and events coordinator in a variety of capacities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Researching and identifying relevant media targets and updating media lists to reflect editorial staff and beat changes.
-Monitoring print and broadcast media for coverage that includes mention of projects and experts.
-Creating weekly monitoring reports on media coverage.
-Supporting work to promote Governance Studies research, experts, events and news.
-Assisting with media relations outreach activities, as appropriate.
-Assisting the communications team to curate new Governance Studies media properties.
-Working closely with the website coordinator to optimize Governance Studies work and scholars on Brookings.edu website.
-Assisting with layout and design of research papers.
-Staffing public events and assisting with live Tweeting of events when appropriate.
