Temporary, Internship
As a Sports intern, the student will gain an understanding as to how to focus on what sports stories are newsworthy and learn effective communication skills. Sports interns will also gain editing experience and learn how to log game highlights and to assemble concise game stories for presentation on the nightly sports show. Students will also learn how to prepare items for on-air programs, how to maintain highlights file tapes, and how to effectively conduct sports-related research. Interns may also occasionally shadow sports reporters in the field.
Supervision and evaluations will be given by either the Sports Director/Anchor or the Sports Producer at the end of the internship.
Hours may include:
2 PM – 11 PM Monday-Friday
1:30 PM – 10:30 PM Saturday & Sunday
Qualifications
Preferred majors: Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Sports Management
Students may be requested to work flexible hours due to business needs.
This is a Spring internship. To be eligible for this internship, you must be able to receive college credit. This internship is unpaid.
