Account Coordinator, Media
Ketchum’s NYC office is looking to add an Account Coordinator to join their dynamic Global Media Network. Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality written and verbal content, exhibit strong basic presentation skills.
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and clients. Maintain regular contact.
- Respond to requests from team and clients with accuracy in an efficient and timely manner.
- Support Senior Media Relations Specialists, VP & Directors in the NY Media group with pitching, media list building and event support
- Familiar with social media and online communities in relation to broader media mix. Basic understanding of long lead media and pitching process
- Interest in social media platform and how companies are using the tools to drive brand awareness and engagement.
- Understands the media landscape and trends. Ability to pitch and secure media in local market, print, broadcast and radio.
- Research and media list building experience skills re: blog and local market lists
- Develop blog contacts and online media knowledge
- Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Be creative and strategic in the development of program pitch angles designed to garner media attention
- Responsible for day-to-day agency efforts on behalf of the client.
- Support implementation of media relations for account plans.
- Assist with research and preparation of materials for new business opportunities and client presentations. Act as a liaison between the design department and account team.
- Proofread and edit documents, consolidate team edits, maintain records and files including team/client files, mailing lists, contact sheets, and trade publications.
- Assist with and coordinate administrative tasks, projects, monitoring, and task execution. This includes but is not limited to set up of client meetings, scheduling, meeting room set-up, catering, and travel.
- Assist with account activities including special events, media events, media relations, social media, desk-side briefings, program implementation, etc.
- Uncover, explore and learn about new tools and techniques important to conducting effective media outreach and deploy as appropriate
- Demonstrate ability to learn about client and business needs and goals. Show integrity, confidentiality, and good judgment when working with clients.
- Ability to develop and write first draft of media releases, fact sheets, media materials, byline articles, client correspondence, press releases, speeches media lists, blog posts, social media content, and reports.
- Display and encourage creativity and innovation. Actively participate in brainstorms and ide8 and connect with creative resources.
- Service oriented. Provides support for teams including media preparation, material development, etc.
- Accompanies clients and spokes people to media interviews and contributes and conducts themselves professionally.
- Take responsibility for own development; educate self on agency capabilities and strategic initiatives. Participate in local office and agency activities and training sessions.
- Prioritize own work, meet deadlines, actively communicate progress and deliverables.
- Exhibit effective interpersonal relations. Develop internal and external network of contacts.
- Serve as an active member of the team and demonstrate team player attitude. Share credit, show respect and collaboration.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field.
- Previous internship experience in a public relations agency and/or media relations experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Cision
- Ability to work in multi-faceted, fast paced environment
