The Pearson Media Editorial Department works on a wide variety of projects in the realm of digital delivery of educational products. The media Editorial Department collaborates with editorial, marketing, and development to determine the specifications of new media that will be used in the course areas of English, Communications and Political Science. Media Editorial works closely with software developers, instructional designers, and subject matter experts to develop, quality test, and schedule the release of innovative media products. Media Editorial also manages all aspects of the release of the Pearson MyLab technology products. The management of the Pearson MyLab products includes hiring subject matter experts to author new assessment questions and to correlate Pearson’s media library to MyLab specific products, manage the MyLab website design and functionality, and work with Pearson’s Media production team to schedule launches of new MyLab products. Media Editorial works with professors and students to help answer questions and make requested updates to Pearson’s market leading technology products.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Pearson Media Editorial intern will have the ability to touch all of the key areas of media in higher educational publishing. Specific tasks may include: testing functionality of new media, coordinating content development schedules, monitor accuracy of websites, work closely with Pearson’s media editorial team to tag Pearson media assets for web searches, help manage content on Pearson MyLab websites, help track usage of Pearson technology products, and more.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft word, working knowledge of Microsoft excel and power point.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: analytical, and organizational skills required, Knowledge of HTML, an interest in social media, desire to pursue a career in educational media.
Requirements for the 2011 Summer Internship Program include:
– Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter noting the internship they desire along with their resume.
– This is a paid internship. The hourly rate is $13/hour.
– Interns must be available to attend the full 8 week program, starting in June. Candidates who live outside of a commutable distance must relocate themselves to the Boston Area at their own expense.
– The Pearson Summer Internship application deadline is Friday, April 22, 2011.
– Active enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in the liberal arts from a four-year college or University. Candidates actively enrolled in a Publishing-specific Masters program will also be considered. Or graduating college seniors can also apply.
– Desire to pursue a career in the Publishing Industry after graduation is a requirement.
