As a paraprofessional, provides administrative and strategic support for the goals and objectives of the Employer Relations Team of the Career Center. Provides support in coordination of all employer related events, services and resources for the department. Represents the Career Center at university-sponsored events and assists in the planning and coordination of marketing events, activities, and programs. Assist in the creation, maintenance, and organization of employer related information. Will help keep accurate records and analyze data for reporting purposes. Will read, know, understand current employer marketing material and suggest ways to increase employer involvement The Employer Relations intern will also work on special projects and events to promote the department, including video productions, employer marketing brochures, email drafting, cold calling, and other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create and edit email drafts for all special target population emails
• Create new marketing materials and content for website, emails, and other medians as assigned
• Research and develop new methods to reach employers through social media
• Increase employer contacts through uniquely developed campaigns and targeted marketing
• Assist the Career Center staff during marketing events, including tabling and resource fairs
• Assist with maintenance of career management database system ECU CareerNET including student and employer records, job postings, data, and troubleshooting.
All responsibilities are essential job functions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
• Work under general supervision of the Assistant Director-Employer Relations.
• In daily communication with Assistant Director-Employer Relations primarily through email and phone as necessary. Purpose of interaction is to strengthen marketing and writing skills as well as strategies for using specific media to reach targeted employers.
• One hour, one-on-one meeting weekly will be used to discuss to discuss current and future assignments, projects, special events, and scheduling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work is conducted from a desk within a shared office in area of responsibility.
• Frequently in contact with others including but not limited to fellow graduate assistants, Career Counselors/Assistant/Associate directors, recruiters, students, faculty, alumni, and outside vendors.
• Small percentage of job is performed out of office in alternate locations such as campus classrooms, residence halls, meeting facilities, administrative buildings, and academic buildings. Purpose of work in these locations includes but is not limited to career training workshops, classroom presentations, career fairs, employer information sessions, and university sponsored events.
PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Position requires a significant amount of writing and keyboarding involving repetitive motions with fingers and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
• Position frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Position requires extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communications, which requires the accurate perception of speech.
• Position is regularly required to talk and hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

• Some knowledge of Social Media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at ECU and maintains a 3.0 GPA within major.
• Preferred candidates will be enrolled in Communications/PR or Business Marketing programs.
• Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year experience in marketing, sales or sales support.
• Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.
